Hey There!
Well, as of today I have been in the mission 23
months. If feels more like 23 weeks truly. I think due to the 23 months
of me being out I just DON'T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE ANYMORE! But like all
weeks, this one was GREAT! Four AMAZING people were baptized this last
week into the Baao Branch. They were the Sister's investigators. Things
are on fire here, in the last 12 weeks we have had 12 baptisms,
hopefully that keeps up!
Those four that were baptized are pretty special. The Mom and
Dad, about 3 or 4 years ago, had one of their sons murdered. The Tatay
said how he just totally shut our God from his life and couldn't find
comfort until 2 missionaries came by and shared with them the Restored
Gospel of Jesus Christ! They truly are so amazing! Their life is
completely different now than it was 2 months ago. They are so happy and
mostly, they know the truth, and as Christ said, "The truth will set
you free." It was an honor to go to their baptism. President and Sister
Reeder came as well and it is always great to be around them!
Tomorrow is transfer day! My trainee, Elder Arganda, is being
transferred! So tomorrow I will meet my next and LAST companion. How
crazy is that? Time is flying by. My next companion will, as we say
here, "Siya ang papatay sa akin!"
So next week is Mother's Day!!!!!!! I am fairly certain that
Mom has been trunky since the day I left haha. The sisters told me that
Mom counts down the days hahaha. She's trunky enough for the both of us,
which is good, that way I am not trunky. But it will be fun to skype
next week! I now know how Race felt his last Mother's Day call before he
came home, he was very sober. But I am excited for skype. Mom told me
that she got my travel plans and in her words, "Woot stinking woot." I
have cute Mom! Anyway I am excited to skype next week! Nothing like
Mother's Day!
Work is great here in Baao. But this past week I've been sick
due to the heat I think. I have had a fever... try having a fever in
super heat with super humidity and super NO ELECTRICITY! That is not
fun! But it isn't TERRIBLE, we've still been able to work and I figure
by Wednesday it will be gone!
Great things are still happening here in Baao. The construction
on the meeting house still goes on. Saturday night we spent most of the
night with our Branch President cleaning the meeting house from all the
dust and everything. Church here is so powerful, I love our little
meeting house!
This past week in personal study, which is the best hour of
the day by the way, I read John 15. I especially enjoyed the fifth
verse, "I (Jesus Christ) am the vine, ye are the branches: he that
abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit for
without me ye can do nothing." I think that is key on the mission, in
all we do we have to abide in Him and He in us. With the help of the
vine fruit is brought about through the branches. Hopefully we never
disconnect ourselves from the vine. It makes me think of the hymn,
"Abide With Me" which is EXCELLENT in Tagalog might I add.
Well, like I said, 23 months have passed and I just don't know
what else you want to know haha. The mission is amazing and it is
better than I ever dreamed! Thank you for your prayers and support. See
you next week on Skype for MOTHER'S DAY! 7pm your time Mom! Or 7:30...
hopefully we don't have a power outage... but it is totally possible.
Thanks for your prayers! See you next Monday!
Elder Davis
